Double Strain

Double straining a cocktail has a few benefits. 

​

Mainly its to remove unwanted items from the like like seeds or leafs. 

​

However it also has the use to remove chipped ice from shaking, making the cocktail smooth and silky. 

​

Helping the foam stay for longer too on cocktails that are frothy. 

​

You want to make sure you hold the strainer a little higher than the glass, I’ve seen many bartenders being too focused on the pouring and not realising the strainer is sitting in the cocktail.
